2015臺美地質封存技術研討會

背景

經濟部能源局與工業技術研究院基於「臺美淨煤與先進能源系統技術國際合作協定」,推動與美國能源部國家能源技術實驗室 (National Energy Technology Laboratory,NETL)之地質封存國際合作,合作內容包括地質封存技術之注儲及封存監測(Monitoring)、場址特性評估(Site Characterization)以及風險評估(Risk Assessment)三大主軸。

為落實臺美地質封存技術合作成效及資訊之擴散,104年度規劃於12月11日星期五辦理2015臺美地質封存技術研討會」,本次邀請2位美國能源部國家能源技術實驗室專家來台,研討地質封存監測與風險評估技術之最新進展,以及雙方合作之階段性規劃與成果,歡迎國內相關領域學者專家共同參與。

美國講員簡歷

Grant Bromhal (NETL) is the Technical Director of the National Risk Assessment Partnership (NRAP) and a Team Lead in NETL’s Predictive Geoscience Division.  As such, he leads a team of researchers focused on modeling, experiments, and field research related to carbon sequestration, enhanced oil recovery, environmental impacts of gas shale production, and enhanced geothermal systems.  He is the U.S. DOE’s technical representative on the Multiagency Collaboration (MAC) on Unconventional Oil and Gas and the lead author of the Induced Seismicity section of the MAC report.  Dr. Bromhal received his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and his BS/BA in Civil Engineering and Math from West Virginia University.  He is the recipient of the 2007 Hugh Guthrie Award for Innovation at NETL, the 2010 USGS Director’s Award for Exemplary Service to the Nation, and the 2011 US DOE Secretary’s Achievement Honor Award.

Nicolas Huerta (NETL) is a researcher in the Predictive Geosciences Division and laboratory coordinator for NETL’s new High Pressure Immersion and Reactive Transport Laboratory. This laboratory allows the study of subsurface environments relevant to oil, gas, and geothermal exploration. Dr. Huerta is also co-PI on an offshore research project that deals with looking at the issue of well geomechanics and well integrity in the offshore and Arctic environment using a combination of numerical modeling and laboratory experiments. He is also the coordinator of the National Risk Assessment Partnerships Wellbore and Seals Working Group. His role is to facilitate the research on well and seal integrity between the national laboratories with the goal of better understanding of the fate of wellbores and seals due to CO2-sequestration operations. As part of this work he leads efforts at NETL to perform experiments and modeling to quantify the time-dependent leakage of CO2 along a well due to complex reactive transport phenomena. Dr. Huerta completed his Ph.D. in geological sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also earn an M.S.E. degree in petroleum engineering. He also holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology from the University of California at Davis.
