台東糖廠建於1913年，日治時代隸屬台東明治製糖株式會社，1996年因環境之變遷停閉製糖，隨著近年來古蹟、歷史建物與閒置空間再利用風潮，台東糖廠以擁有悠久的歷史背景更具備多項文化優勢，廠區得以活化再利用，提供民眾觀光休閒旅遊據點，珍惜保存地方製糖產業文化，具有極佳之空間活化潛力，進而帶動台東地區繁榮。 東糖文物館原為砂糖倉庫(1931年建造)，2004年12月整修建置「東糖文物館」，2006年4月22日揭牌開幕；館內展陳內容：製糖機具文物、檢驗用器具、行政用具文物，糖業老舊照片(蔗園開發、整地、種蔗、甘蔗採收、運輸、製糖流程等)。
