Environment and Climate Change Canada announced on 24 September 2026 that it is developing a policy framework for trading internationally transferred mitigation outcomes (ITMOs) under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, aiming to channel investment into carbon removal and nature-based solutions and open international markets for Canadian companies. The final rules will be set after consultation with partners.
The Global CCS Institute will hold a launch event for the Global Status of CCS 2026 report on 20 October, covering progress on CCS facilities, policy, finance and shared transport and storage infrastructure worldwide. This is an event announcement; the annual report has not yet been released.
