A Taiwanese company lines up Guatemalan bamboo carbon credits: how far is a US$30-a-tonne letter of intent from real credits? →
TaiwanICDF's technical mission in Guatemala is helping develop a bamboo carbon sink project of about 115 hectares, planned to be designed, registered and verified under Verra's Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). On October 1, Taiwanese company Cupola360 signed a letter of intent stating its intention to have first right to buy the credits at US$30 per tonne. The project is still at the starting line: volumes, a formal contract and whether the credits could be used against Taiwan's carbon fee all remain to be confirmed.
