This dataset mainly includes the survey basin, river, sampling site, date, species, method and abundance. It is provided by the River Conditions Survey Database Management System of the Water Resources Planning Branch, Water Resources Agency, which compiles river conditions data collected by the agency over the years into a unified management and query website. It is intended as reference information for river water-resource management, ecological environmental maintenance and environmental improvement planning for structures within river areas. Species, location and time are central to the data, enabling further analysis of species distributions across space and time. Under the river conditions survey guidelines, surveys must cover a full year with at least one survey per season; adjacent months should, as far as possible, not be used to represent two seasons. Survey timing should account for the breeding seasons of different animals and avoid periods of inactivity.
